Dance

Traditional dance education using a proven curriculum which has evolved over 60 years.

Tiny Dancer

A unique blend of ballet, tap and a weekly craft project.  Students will learn the basics of ballet and tap and reinforce behavioral skills such as sharing, taking turns, following directions, listening, and social skills.

Ballet

Learn grace, poise, and confidence while exploring classic ballet technique.  This class is structured as a classical ballet class with a foot warm-up, full barre, adagio, petite allegro, and grande allegro. 

Cecchetti Ballet

The Cecchetti Council of America an international organization that holds examinations in classical ballet for students and teachers testing the technical and artistic accomplishments of student candidates who have been prepared by member teachers. It offers Primary levels for ages 5 through 9, Graded levels starting at 8 years old and Professional levels starting at 13 years old. For more information www.cecchetti.org 

Ballet/Tap

Let your little one have fun and learn grace, poise, and confidence while exploring classic ballet technique.  Then shift gears and allow them to learn new skills while making noise in a whole new way with the sound and age-old rhythm of tap.

Tap

Learn the basics of tap dance including concentration on technique, combinations, and precision. 

Ballet, Tap and Jazz

Designed for older kids with more concentration on technique, combinations, and precision, this class adds the style and funky-ness of popular classic jazz dancing styles.

Home School Ballet and Jazz

Allow your homeschooler to complete any necessary PE credits with this class that explores the basics of ballet including work at the barre, centre, and down the floor.  Learn classic jazz dancing with styles from Fosse and reaching into more contemporary styles of funk and hip hop. 

Jazz

Explore the many different styles of jazz dancing from classical jazz such as Fosse to contemporary styles bordering on funk or hip hop.

The latest dance styles and techniques promoting positive energy and emotions.

Intro to Hip Hop

This introductory class uses a balance of freestyle and choreographed movements that blend breaking, popping, and locking all while incorporating the latest diverse trends.

Hip Hop

This class uses a balance of freestyle and choreographed movements that blend breaking and popping all while incorporating the latest diverse trends.

Hip Hop and Tap for Boys

The first half hour of this class uses a balance of freestyle and choreographed movements that blend breaking, popping, and locking all while incorporating the latest diverse trends in hip hop.  The second half hour introduces tap basics, including rhythm, timing, coordination, and choreographed combinations.

Broadway

A fun and lively class where students will learn the choreography of classic musical dances, theatrical style, stage presence, and set procedures.

Contemporary

Today’s newest techniques and latest trends of contemporary dance incorporating the work of leading choreographers as seen on hit TV dance shows will be explored.

Modern

A graceful, and dramatic movement form building on principles of modern dance from Graham and Horton and includes elements such as performance art, contact improvisation, floor work, release-technique, and improvisation encouraging emotional expression. 

Lyrical Modern

A delicate, graceful, and dramatic movement form building on principles of modern dance and lyrical ballet and encouraging emotional expression.

Flexibility and core strengthening

Since flexibility and core strength are crucial to the success of every dancer, Studio D is offering a class devoted to increasing the strength and flexibility of its dancers. This class welcomes all dancers studying any genre of dance. We draw on technique from different types of dance and incorporate it into strengthening exercises. We also increase flexibility through different stretching exercises as well as partner stretching. This class works well in collaboration with other dance classes.

Encouraging self-expression and inner growth through motion.

Baby and Me

A movement class designed to increase movement and build confidence in the parent and child while developing a strong physical relationship between them. Using the movement patterns and ideas designed by Moshe Feldenkrais for his (ATM) Awareness Through Movement(c), the class will follow baby developmental patterns, creating games as we roll, crawl, and climb. Parents will participate on the floor with their children.

Intro to Movement

A fun but gentle movement class designed to enhance confidence and coordination in young people. Lessons will use movement patterns and ideas designed by Moshe Feldenkrais and his (ATM) Awareness Through Movement(r) taking themes from gymnastics and dance to create interest in moving and bring movement into the child's world. Parents can participate with their children.

Creative Movement

A free and easy dance class incorporating weekly themes that are open for personal interpretation of the dancer.  Perfect for the student who needs more creative freedom than structured dance forms offer.  By request, we've added a half-hour extension to this class for the kids to complete a craft project.  Projects will vary week-to week and will carry the weekly dance theme into a creation the kids can take home every week.

Dancing Fairy Tales

Watch your child's imagination come to life in this less-structured creative movement class where children work with dance inspired by classic fairy tales and create living and moving stories of their own dreams and fantasies. By request, we've added a half-hour extension to this class for the kids to complete a craft project.  Projects will vary week-to week and will carry the weekly story theme into a creation the kids can take home every week.

Hoop Dance

Children will learn the art of dancing inside and outside the hoop. It is fun, creative, and playful class where kids learn hoop technique: to hoop on various parts of their bodies, including their core, arms, and legs. This class is infused with basic jazz, modern, and hip hop dance principles.

Acrobatics

Beginning Acrobatics is a class that teaches basic tumbling skills, balance and flexibility. The basic skills taught include rolls, front limbers, cartwheels, front hand springs, front and back walkovers.  Intermediated and Advanced Acrobatics will work the basic skills plus flips and aerials such as back handsprings, aerial cartwheels, back tucks and aerial front walkovers.

Nia

A modern dance form blending the movement arts, martial arts, and healing arts. With a less formal approach, it focuses on engaging the senses while using the body in a non-impactful, healthy way.

A one-on-one lesson with the instructor of choice in any discipline that Studio D offers.
