Miss Barbara javors
InstructorMiss Barbara began her dance training at the Vladimir Marek Ballet Academy in San Antonio, TX. There she danced as a member of the San Antonio Ballet Junior Company training in the Vagonova technique. She extended her study in the summers at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City, New York, the Boston Ballet School in Boston, Massachusetts, and the North Carolina School for the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was accepted into the Houston High School for Performing and Visual Arts as a sophomore and graduated high school from the North Carolina School for the Arts, School of Dance.
She received training from Franchon Cordell and Frank Smith of American Ballet Theatre, Nina Danilova of the Kirov Ballet, and Brenda Daniels of the Merce Cunningham School. Barbara earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas in Austin with a Heywood “Woody” McGriff Presidential Scholarship. There she performed with the Dance Repertory Theatre Company and had the privilege of studying with Holly Williams of Mark Morris, David Justin of the San Francisco Ballet, Lyn Wiltshire of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Yokov Sharir of the Merce Cunningham company.
Upon graduating Barbara accepted a position as the Dance Director at the McCallum Fine Arts Academy Performing Arts High School in Austin, TX. Currently she is building a new dance program at Manhattan Middle School for Art and Academics as well as choreographing and performing with Ascential Dance Theater, Colorado. Mrs. Javors is excited to share her love of dance with the students of Studio D!
